PRETTY AND EDIBLE

This is really wicked. I know there are edible flowers, but I don't know Malaysian would produce and sell these, I thought it's imported! So being local means cheap too. Superb! Now you can make beautiful salad with these pretty tiny flowers. :)

Look what we have done with the flowers HERE.

MADELEINE

Been craving this for weeks, finally found it at Delifrance Ampang. Yums!

If you don't know about this classic French cakes, it is called Madeleine cakes and they are actually much like Malay Bahulu cakes. Madeleines are originally  from Commercy and Liverdun, two communes of the Lorraine region in northeastern France.
Madeleines are very small sponge cakes with a distinctive shell-like shape acquired from being baked in pans with shell-shaped depressions. Aside from the traditional moulded pan, commonly found in stores specialising in kitchen equipment and even hardware stores, no special tools are required to make madeleines.
A génoise cake batter is used. The flavour is similar to, but somewhat lighter than, sponge cake. Traditional recipes include very finely ground nuts, usually almonds. A variation uses lemon zest, for a pronounced lemony taste.

TAIPING

I'm in Taiping again. The city has changed much but one thing that never changed is the lake garden. I hope it will be there forever, continuously giving the serene and relaxing environment to Taiping people. And not to forget, the cendol, popiah and pasembor sotong too. :)
